JAR's Computing Resources

JAR has recently simplified its computing network to address Y2K compliance and simplified system support via the retirement of noncompliant systems nearing end of useful life.  We now utilize a mix of Windows NT and SGI Unix-based workstations and servers to support our computing requirements. A Silicon Graphics PowerChallenge computer with multiple processors serves as the primary compute server for computationally intensive analyses. Supporting the SGI compute server is a network of engineering workstations that run a variety of engineering applications.  Personal computers support business activities and document preparation.  JAR's facilities for electronic data transfer ensure that clients can easily communicate engineering data to and from JAR.

  • SGI workstations
  • Sun SPARC workstations
  • Pentium PCs running Windows NT Workstations and Server
  • HP DesignJet 600 E-size plotter plus color and postscript printers
